NASHVILLE ANXIETY AMMUNITION

I'm moving to Nashville in October. I've been a little afraid of it lately, but I remind myself that I'm doing it for 2 GOOD reasons: 1) More space for less $$. For the last 5 years I've lived in the East Village in a 350/400 square foot studio. I've loved it... it's been perfect for me (good closets and rooftop) but lately i've been fantasizing about dining room tables - vintage danish teak... eclectic farm tables with Eames chairs... 4 chairs, 6 chairs, 8 chairs!! I have a vision of waking up in the morning, making coffee and sitting at the dream table to read the news... or meditate... hyperventilate... whatever. Doesn't matter. It's comforting to know you have a place to rest your elbows. 2) Experience music in Nashville. Since I moved to NYC almost 8 years ago, people have asked me from time to time, "So... why didn't you move to Nashville? I imagine you'd do really well there." Well, I moved to NYC 8 years ago because this city was and still is the MOST INCREDIBLE CITY ON EARTH... REALLY. But it's time to mix things up a bit. I think Nashville will stretch me as a songwriter, will let me indulge in my love for the country (personal backyard grass) and might just be a good professional "next step." Who knows? I have to try. I love the quote by Mark Twain, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. Throw off the bowlines." That's what I intend to do.
